When I was younger, I spent a lot of my leisure time watching my father repair his cars, installing the heating system, building our house, and everything else I could do to spend some time in his meticulously organized garage. Asides from school, I also took classes in music, dancing, painting, tennis, English, and other subjects. Sometimes, my days were busier than an adult’s, which taught me the value of hard work and tenacity. My dog also taught me how to be disciplined.
Nothing has really changed since then. I had a child and began working as an assistant in a medium-sized enterprise while studying my passion – music. Later, as I took on more and more responsibilities at work, I pursued an MBA in Management and Leadership. I’m not sure which I enjoy more: working with a productive team or working with innovative products; both inspire me tremendously. I was so impressed by the work that it gave me an incredible amount of energy. As a result, my work, studies, child, household, and two dogs cost me a lot of energy, and I failed to recharge properly.
At some point, I found myself on the shower floor. It had a slipped disc and it was the first sign that I needed to take better care of my health. I was in my twenties at the time and I needed a new fitness strategy, and with time, I found it.
In 2018, I accepted an offer to be the managing director of another electronic manufacturing company and I continued to put my energy into the company, my team, and my projects.
As a part of my strategy, I needed a monitoring device to make sure I moved throughout the day and not only to the car and back. I put an electronic device on my other wrist to track my daily activities. It wasn’t comfortable or attractive; a cheap and large piece of plastic on my wrist appeared to be only functional – especially in the summer. As a result, I stopped using it.
I was once seated in my cycling class, testing the limits of my body’s condition. My heart rate increased to the point where I could feel the beat in my throat. But I kept riding my bike. I remembered my father, who died at the age of 45 from a heart attack. And another significant figure suffered after a heart attack in his early 50s. Both men were unconcerned about their health. Although I wasn’t afraid of dying on the bike when I started feeling dizzy, I slowed down and considered how useful it would be to be able to measure my heart rate right here, with my Rolex.
That, my friend, is how my idea was born, that is how Watchibia was born. Images of possibilities, research on similar products and discussions with developers about technical solutions, research with a patent lawyer, and more conversations, solutions. No, I did not start to ride less intensely. In addition, I incorporated walking meetings into my workday, took the stairs even when I didn’t have to, and went running despite my strong opposition to marathons.
I kept thinking about how I could improve my product while looking for the best suppliers and partners.
I didn’t want to wear a piece of cheap plastic on my wrist, therefore I wanted it to be lovely from the start. And I discovered the best rubber manufacturer, which produces natural vulcanized rubber (resistant to UV light and hostile environments), which is very comfortable to wear, has no silicone, and is hypoallergenic.
By using the most recent innovations in the electronics industry, we will be able to incorporate the electrical into a curved wristband. Something, no one else has done before. And I’ve protected this technology with a patent.
As a result of my efforts, I’ve built a team that is excited about the product and takes care of their bodies in the same way I do.
Watchibia will include basic features such as a step counter, heart rate sensor, and oxygen level sensor. With a lot of room to “vaccinate” the gadget with extra chips for more alternatives.
My goal with this device is to provide an option for luxury mechanical watch lovers so that we can wear the smart strap on our mechanical watch and stay true to the look and brand while tracking our physical activity.
